Chair Yoga is not just for seniors, but also for those who are interested in integrating adaptable movement using the basic yoga poses (asanas), breathing techniques, and the calming effects of mindfulness. Chair yoga is a great way to get the wonderful health benefits of yoga without having to get down onto the floor and can allow participants to access all the same muscles.
This training/workshop is designed for those working in the medical field and assisting patients in the healing process, office workers who sit all day and could benefit from learning movement techniques while sitting at their desk as well and also for those who are living with persistent pain and injuries and want to step back into their asana practice in a cautious manner while they heal.
The adaptive aspects of a Chair Yoga practice also embraces bigger body people who need more accessible ways to move with fluidity and ease. The practice of chair yoga allows bigger bodied individuals who have persistent joint pain to improving alignment and to reduce strain on joints by allowing the chair to bear more of the weight as they progress through their practice. Chair Yoga training will guide participants to take their practice slower and still experience all the benefits that yoga has to offer.
In addition, Chair Yoga training will focus on how to guide and release tension in movement and stillness, connect with the breath while helping the students gain balance, strength, flexibility and confidence. You will learn the fundamental chair poses, the sequences, terminology and the concepts of yoga.
