Refine Your Practice and Teach Major Classes of Asanas
  • Principles of structural alignment
  • Principles of energetic alignment
  • Anatomy and physiology for yoga teachers
  • Yoga models of the subtle body (chakras, koshas, nadis)
  • Structuring and sequencing classes that are dynamic and fun
  • Practice teaching in small and large groups
  • Principles of partner and community yoga

II. Refine Your Practice and Teach Pranayama, Pratyahara, and Meditation
  • Breathing for Beginners to build a foundation 
  • Breathing for Compassion and Kindness
  • Breathing for Gratitude 
  • Breathing to Heal Yourself and Others
  • Deeper practices of Pranayama, Pratyahara, and Meditation 
  • Systematic breath training for self-care
  • Pranayama practice and teaching in individualized settings and 
  • Relaxation techniques and guided imagery training and teaching
  • Theory and practice of meditation

III. Understanding and Applying Yoga Psychology and Philosophy
  • Study of Ancient Texts 
  • Study of the Yoga Sutra
  • Study of the Bhagavad Gita
  • The yogic model and functions of the mind
  • Introduction to Sanskrit, chants, and mantras 
  • Overview of history of yoga tradition
  • Introduction to a Mindfulness practice 

IV. Refine Your Practice Teaching Youth Yoga (Introduction to all of these concepts) 
  • Awareness and application of the developmental stages of youth
  • Understand children’s physical, mental, emotional and social development
  • Understand the brain-body-nervous system connection and development
  • Embodiment of Peaceful World Yoga’s teaching philosophies
  • Know and understand the benefits of children's yoga as it relates to each stage of development
  • Provide a safe space for learning that includes ethical behavior of both students and teachers
  • Introduction to mindfulness and meditation for all types of learners
  • A deep understanding of the ethics of working with youth
  • An awareness of how to teach children the importance of breath work
  • Knowledge of how to  guide children through relaxation and guided imagery
  • Knowledge of general stress management techniques
  • Create lesson plans that are engaging and differentiated for different learning styles and developmental stages
  • Knowledge of yoga poses and learning how to create new poses with children
  • How to teach Family Yoga – Intergenerational Yoga
  • Introduction to how to start your own yoga business

V.  Refine Your Practice Teaching Chair Yoga (Introduction) 
  • Teach a one-hour accessible chair yoga class
  • Choose appropriate postures and breathing techniques according to individual needs
  • Discern levels of flexibility and identify precautions and contraindications
  • Use light weights in chair poses to build bone and muscle mass
  • Understand anatomy and alignment for chair asanas
  • Incorporate meditation, relaxation, and breathing techniques to improve health and well-being.

Certification to Teach 

Participants who complete Peaceful World Yoga's 200-Hour YTT program  receive a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Certification from Peaceful World Yoga and are eligible to apply for the 200-hour level of registration (RYT) with Yoga Alliance and a 95-Hour optional Registered Children's Teacher Training Certificate.  This training is an exceptional training for educators as well as yoga teachers and practitioners.  

Certification requirements include: Full attendance in the training intensive, required reading, knowledge assessment, and two written assignments to be completed after the training intensive. The written requirements include a meditation journal,  a self-evaluation of your teaching experience of 12 hours taught, a peer review and a final written assessment.  Each month participants will build upon their knowledge-base by taking an oral or written assessment on the content presented.  One-on-one feedback and additional instruction is provided to ensure full comprehension.   

All participants must complete certification requirements within one year in order to receive certification.​  Peaceful World Yoga hires from our pool of graduates and helps place instructors into schools, rec centers, shelters, senior centers and other community venues.  

Peaceful World Yoga is a certified Yoga School through Yoga Alliance.
